«Career», set of armchairs
Серия из 15 холстов группы Deus ExCavator — это эссенция из коллекции озарений и видений-образов, посетивших художников за последние десять лет.
Исполненные в традиционной живописной манере специально для ярмарки Cosmoscow и мимикрирующие под классические станковые картины, эти объекты как нельзя лучше маскируют нуминозный опыт авторов и делают подношение их одноковшовому богу со стороны просвещенных ценителей и собирателей приятным, комфортным и обоюдовыгодным.
Та же подражательность присуща и другой работе художников, представленной на стенде -- гарнитуру "Карьера": здесь авторы вступают на территорию мебельных дизайнеров. Два объекта, "Сцилла" и "Харибда", притворяются домашней мебелью и заставляют забыть о происхождении грозных клыков, которыми оторочены плюшевые спинки "кресел".
Таким образом, кажущиеся "произведениями искусства", работы Deus ExCavator призваны привлечь новых адептов культа божественного Экскаватора из числа посетителей ярмарки.
«Having been fascinated since childhood by the image of the Excavator as a kind of powerful machine, an external force that combines with and multiplies the power of man, in 2016, both of us, independently of each other, came up with the idea to master the art of excavation and digging and bring to life a childhood dream. Having been born and grown up in the city of Krotik, Heroic Metro Builders, Dostoevsky, Poskrebyshev, Joyce, Kharms and Gogol, Tickling and Scratching, as well as the chickens of Ryaba and Chernushka, we consider it especially symbolic and metaphorical to explore the surrounding world in its deepest dimension – overcoming the thin crust of surface illusions and biting into the essence of its being; therefore, an Excavator, in our understanding, is the most powerful image that we use in our artistic activities. There is no future without excavation!»
Kerim and Petr (Deux ExCavator), who began exhibiting their work in 1989 and have participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions (including those within the framework of the Parazit association), began working together in December 2016 in order to exhaust the phenomenon of digging and all related practices in their joint acts of art.
Deus ExCavator refers to the ancient theatrical term, "deus ex machina", and directly indicates the divine origin and numinous power of the hydraulic Machine-creature. The artists view themselves as devoted priests of the excavator cult; priests and preachers who sing in the glory of their one-bucket god.
They possess tractor driver licenses with the right to meekly operate wheeled excavators with a capacity of up to 110 kW since February 2017, No. 78SK434220 and No. 78SK434219 respectively.
