Dasha Surma’s artistic practice develops in the space of an intense dialogue between the everyday and the planetary. The artist builds a complex optic in which an intimate experience is projected onto the scale of global, uncontrolled processes, and historical events find their echo in the personal and family archive. This method can be defined as an “archaeology of everyday life,” where an everyday detail becomes an artifact bearing traces of large historical and ecological narratives.
