The book "Ursa Minor", gift edition
The book is compiled from photographs taken by Elina's great-grandfather, found in a box of old, rolled-up film. They tell the story of a little bear named Mashka, who lived with her family in the 1980s in the village of Chaibukha in the northern Magadan Region.
The palm-sized cub was brought home by hunters from the taiga after they shot her mother while hunting. Elina's great-grandparents took the cub in. Thus, Mashka grew up, becoming part of the family—along with dogs and children, including the artist's mother.
Through photographs from the family archive and her grandmother's story, Mashka journeys from a small star in her great-grandfather's palms to an adult animal who can no longer live alongside people. By the end of the book, she transforms into the constellation Ursa Minor.
The book becomes a metaphor for the memory of Mashka and a reflection on the consequences of the difficult choices people sometimes have to make.

In her artistic practice, Elina works with phenomena and imagery situated at the intersection of knowledge and imagination. Through them, she explores the connections between natural and cultural landscapes, the driving forces of communities, local mythologies, and the fluid nature of memory and communication.
She works with photography, archives, artist books, and textiles, and also creates objects and installations.
