From the «Gathering Blue» series
Ilya Ovsyannikov, at the invitation of the curator, will create a new series of paintings with non-places and liminal spaces in the context of the balance between natural and human, living and artificial in his recognizable artistic style specifically for the project of the gallery's booth for participation in Cosmoscow-2026.
For the first time, Ilya will attempt to move from blue and pink (Inner Pink series) coloristics towards green and sepia, exploring the colors of the already inner landscapes of the modern subject.
In the new series, the artist refers to the earth as the primary principle (previously, water was more important in Ilya's works), while maintaining the characteristic blurriness of the image. Here, natural forms lose their definiteness and turn into metaphysical landscapes in which it is impossible to draw a clear line between the real and the imaginary, the natural and the man-made.
