Fashionable Chickens Series
Yulia Romasheva was born in Ipatovo, Stavropol Krai. Her main series of works is closely linked to fashion and fashion narratives, where Fashion and Death appear as the central characters, and, of course, to the poetry of Giacomo Leopardi. In a short piece by the Italian Romantic poet Leopardi, written in 1824, Fashion and Death appear as the protagonists: “Death: Be silent! I shall come when you are dying. Fashion: But I am immortal!”
The technique that would later become the artist’s signature was discovered in the process of graphically solving the texture of chicken skin.
