Aladdin Ramazanovich Garunov was born in 1956 in the village of Ukuz, Kurakhsky District, Dagestan. In 1977, he moved to Moscow, where he continued his education at the Moscow Higher School of Art and Industry named after S. G. Stroganov, graduating in 1985. He has participated in numerous Russian and international exhibitions. He is a two-time finalist for the Kandinsky Prize in the Project of the Year category (2010, 2012) and a laureate of the Sergei Kuryokhin Prize in the Best Work of Visual Art category (2013). He is an Honored Artist of the Republic of Dagestan. Since 2024, he has been a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (Department of Newest Trends). Garunov's works are included in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, and other museum and private collections. He lives and works in Moscow.
